Stats by Year

Statistics for the U.S. hop industry are gathered through a cooperative agreement between the Oregon Hop Commission, the Washington Hop Commission, the Idaho Hop Commission, Hop Growers of America, Inc., and the Oregon Agricultural Statistics Service and National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Acreage - In the late spring each Oregon hop grower is sent a survey to complete which reports the number of hop acres that each farm will grow that season. In addition to acreage, the grower also reports the hop varieties that will be grown. The final acreage report is released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in early June.
Production - Inspection is required on all hops produced in Oregon. The Oregon Department of Agriculture manages the inspection program, which is overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS). All hops are inspected for seed content and leaf/stem content and issued an official inspection certificate. At the end of each season, a production report is released that includes: total hop production in pounds, average yields by variety, average price, and quality information (leaf/stem and seed content). This report is release in January of the following year by USDA-NASS.
Hop Stocks - Two times during the year, March and September, the Hop Stocks Report is released which quantifies the amount of hop inventory held by growers, dealers, and brewers.
